"From where I stand... You're beautiful."
On the first of December each year, people from around the globe celebrate World AIDS Day. We use this day to expand people’s knowledge of this deadly disease and to educate people on how to prevent further devastation.

AIDS is short for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, a disease that currently affects tens-of-millions of people abroad and kills millions of people per year. AIDS is the final stage of the HIV disease which attacks and destroys the immune system.

From the vast lands of Africa, to the LGBT community, people are learning how serious this is and it is time for all of us to take a stand.

In 2009, African Americans accounted for 44% of all new HIV infections.

Some studies show that Gay men are 50% more likely to contract AIDS.

Right now, there is no vaccine or cure for AIDS which is why the number of cases from this epidemic is growing each year. There are ways to stay safe though.

- Never use tools that have come in contact with another person’s blood or other bodily fluid such as a needle, AIDS can and is spread through bodily fluids and blood. Always wear safety gear such as gloves and protective clothing when coming in contact with another person’s fluids.

- Wear Condoms to help prevent the transmission of bodily fluids during sexual intercourse. This applies to Homosexual and Heterosexual couples. If you are unsure of your status, GET TESTED! There are many resources and groups who can help you with finding one of the many tests out there. If you have this disease, make sure to notify your partner and make sure they understand the risks and facts of AIDS. REMEMBER: The only 100% way to prevent spreading AIDS is abstinence.

- Women who wish to have a child and are HIV positive should consult a medical professional.

Much love and stay safe my friends!
