CONGRATULATIONS INDIANA, OKLAHOMA, UTAH, VIRGINIA AND WISCONSIN!
I have so much love for Ellen DeGeneres, not only is she beautiful, she is so extraordinary and touches so many lives. On today’s Season 11 premiere, she spoke to the principals of Plaza Towers Elementary and Briarwood Elementary which were destroyed by an EF-5 tornado in Moore, Oklahoma on 20 May 2013. As a reporter, I was taking the day off because it is my birthday, but as soon as I knew the tornado was on the ground, I started covering it, trying to get the word out to people in Moore to take cover. Unfortunately, seven 3rd grade students were killed and dozens of others lost their lives. It was honestly one of the hardest events I covered in 3 years of reporting and took such a toll on every reporter and journalist. Ellen then presented every student with a free yearbook via Shutterfly, and presented each principal $100,000 for their schools.
She then remembered Talia Castellano who passed away after battling cancer at 13-years-old which made me cry too.
Ellen has a beautiful way of making people laugh, but also making us smile through difficult times. One of my dreams is to be on her show to tell people it gets better. Maybe one day?
